If an investor were to pass away, the next of kin, or executors of the will can contact us by telephone, email or livechat:
ISA accounts can continue earning interest until 3 years after the date of death, or until we are asked to close the account, whichever comes first.
Once we have been notified of the investor's passing, we need a copy of the death certificate and the last will and testament, if there was one, to be sent to us. We can then establish who we need to be taking instructions from regarding the closure of the account.
We offer additional permitted subscriptions, so if there is a surviving spouse we can transfer any ISA investments to them. We will provide the necessary forms to the surviving spouse to complete in order to make the transfer. There are two types of form, one for existing easyMoney investors, and one for new investors.
We will provide the executors with a valuation of the account up to the date of death as this is usually required for probate.
We will require a copy of the sealed grant of probate or the letter of administration once it's available, as well as written instructions from all executors of the estate regarding the allocation of the funds.
We will be as supportive as we can during this difficult time.
